Quick little Birthday

Well I'm only home for a few short days with really no time to do much of anything.  I will then be able to get back to the lake and start working on some cards.  I never even opened my tote for the last 2 weeks.  With the holiday it was all about preparing, cleaning and doting on the grandkids.  I enjoyed every minute with them and miss them already even tho I've only been away from them for 24 hours. LOL
Todays card is a quickie for a friend who has a birthday later this month.  She loves baking and I found this digital image on line a couple years ago and printed it out, threw it in a drawer and forgot about it.  I don't have a laser printer so markers just smudge the heck out of digital images for me so I don't like coloring them but this time I thought I'd try gel glitter pens.  Results were not awful but I don't think I'll do it again.  Since the image was small I decided to put it on a flip card.

I used pinks and purples and a few swirl punches.  The punched border on the sides are from an old Fiskars border punch.  One the inside left I embossed the purple circle with a Happy Birthday embossing folder.  I also used a clear glitter gel pen on top of the swirls and added some bling.
Pretty quick and pretty easy.
Well that's it for today.....I have to get supplies ready for the nursing home.  They have their craft day tomorrow and we are having them decorate rocks for a small "ROCK GARDEN" under the tree in the resident courtyard.  Ought to be a fun....messy day!

Till next time

Greens and Purples

A while ago our card group got together for another Friday night of card making.  June had come up with 2 cards for us to make that she C.A.S.E.D.  At least I think she did!  LOL  Anyway I love these two colors together.
Both cards were pretty easy and June made it super easy by cutting everything...yes EVERYTHING out for us!  So all we had to do was provide the tape runner and some dimensionals!  Actually now that I think about it I think the butterfly card was one Cindy put together for us.  Heeheehee....sometimes it's so hard for me to keep track.  Must be those senior moments!
Well I just wanted to share 2 more before I leave for some peace and quiet and solitude card making!  Be back in 2 weeks!

C.A.S. with Embossing Folders

I have an addiction!  Yes I admit it.  I..........I.........I........love EMBOSSING FOLDERS!!!  I buy ALOT!  How I have kept them all from being duplicated I have no idea.  I use them for everything.  I emboss back grounds, flowers, ribbons, tags. What ever I think needs to be embossed I emboss it.  So it is no surprise that I wanted to make a C.A.S. card using just an embossing folder.  Well I came close but I did embellish just a tad!

I sprayed a couple of colors of Glimmer Mist on white card after I used a butterfly embossing folder by Darice.  I stamped Hello directly on card front and heat embossed with Bridal embossing powder.  I then used a butterfly die both the negative and the positive parts and adhered them on top of the embossed butterflies.  The ribbon is actually a step ladder yarn used to make crochet necklaces but it worked with this card.  All was attached to red cardstock.  I added a piece of white card to the inside so you could write something inside.  I think this qualifies for Clean and simple...don't you?

Well I'm off to see what else I can create before I take off again to the cabin where I have no Internet.  So until then..................

Hurry Christmas is coming!

I can't believe June is nearly over and that I am not in full speed Christmas card making!  Are you??  I also haven't update this blog in awhile either.  Shame on me!  In my defence my hubby and I just got back from a road trip.  We went to Hannibal Mo. and saw all the touristy stuff on Mark Twain.  Then headed to Kansas for a surprise visit to my brother and his family.  From there it was Nebraska to Lied Lodge where the founder of Arbor Day is from.  My husband adores trees and is an Arborist himself so it seemed appropriate to go visit there.  Once we got back I have been playing catch up.  Caught up with my crafty stamping friends, caught up with some volunteer craft classes at the local nursing home I go to with my friend June.  Tended to my garlic garden and visits with the grandkids.  In between I got very little done in the way of cards but for today I do have two for you.

I figured it was time to start using more of what I have (which is what I hope to do with all the cards I shall be working on in the next few weeks)
Both of these cards are bigger than the usual 4.25 x 5.5 that I make.  These are 5 x 7's.  The one on the right I had finally used a stamp set that I think I got in 2012 in the Cardmaking and Papercrafting that I get from the UK.  Ok .....I know...I'm a little slow!!  I should have used this ages ago..it is so Darn Cute!  I put "Dash" marks around both solid white mats because I really didn't like how plain they looked.
The second card I used some white shimmer paper and a Anna Griffin embossing folder.  The Merry Christmas paper was a sheet from a Christmas paper pack from Hobby Lobby that I picked up a few years ago.  I wasn't thrilled with the stamped image though.  I like the image just not the ink.  The red would not get dark enough and I only had clear embossing powder and that only made it shiny.  The card is passable though.

Well that's it for now.  I know I didn't go into too much detail here so if you have any questions just ask and I'll get you the answer.  Till later

Embossed Christmas

First of all I have to totally laugh at myself!  Here I had spent a beautiful weekend last week at my favorite stamp store, bought a few new Christmas stamps and thought I was motivated enough to use one right away.  After all I had 4 free days until I got together with my ladies group and I wanted to be sure I had a new Christmas card to show them and have all elements cut out for them to create one too. But...............noooooo..................I fall back on an easy easy card instead.  After bringing all my treasure's to my craft room I started looking at a bunch of other stuff I already had.  For instance and box just filled to capacity of Embossing folders.  I do use them but not as often as I should and there are so many ways to make super quick cards using them.  So instead of using one of my newer stamps I decided to try using more of what I already had.  I chose this Nordic Sweater embossing folder I got last year.  I think I got it on ebay.  I also had this small roll of ribbon with words already on it and I almost never use ribbons like this even though I must have at least 20 different rolls of them.  This card is the typical 4.24 x 5.5  the embossed area is white card 4  1/8" x 5  3/8"
Add some ribbon and some bling!

The snowflake is one I cut from a med Sizzix die.  I then sprayed with a spray adhesive and sprinkled glitter.  I just thought the card needed a bit of glittering!  I'm going to make a couple more easy cards using only and emboss folder and some embellies.  I'll post those later.
Hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day weekend!!  My heart goes out to all that have served in the Military and their families.
Till later..................................

Cabin Haul

What a great weekend!  We got our cabin open for the season and I can't wait to get back up there.  We might even consider Internet service this year.  Might?  Any way I got to check out my favorite stamp store while we were there.  First I went to the new and improved store.  Oscar had moved from one building to another and has a much better set up in the new space. I am excited to spend alot of time in the new shop.  The other shop Oscar has is her original one but about 20 miles from me.  But it's a country road 20 miles so it really doesn't take too much time to get there considering there aren't any stoplights or stop signs.  Oh....did I mention these stores are in Door County Wisc?  No???  Sorry!!  Yes, it's the "Door County Rubber Stamp Store".  Oscar has 1 in Sturgeon Bay which is open nearly all year long.  This is her original one where most of the magic happens.  She has her own design line which is only found in Door County as far as I know.   She also carries the largest line of "Northwoods Stamps"  If it's a Northwoods stamp she has it or can get it.  Her originals are totally awesome ranging from "Door County Kids" to "Angels" with lots in between.  There is also a huge selection of word stamps that you won't see elsewhere.  The second store is in Egg Harbor and a bit closer to me being only 9 miles away.  This new store carries nearly as many stamps.  Both stores offer other goodies such as inks, glitters, papers (Some pertaining directly to Door County) as well as very helpful staff.  You can check out their facebook page  HERE
Now for my goodies....I got quite a few stamps with some great ideas in my head.  Here are the Northwoods collection I picked up this time:
I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to work on so I got some Christmas and some everyday.  I then picked up a few Christmas stamps from Oscars line.  So Stinkin' Cute!!
I also picked up 2 Dies.  I'm such a sucker for dies since I hate "Fussy" cutting.
Those little birds will look great on a birch tree stamp I have!
I also need to  pick up 2 stamps for my ladies.  One was in "want" of the Easter baskets in a row from Northwoods and the other was in "want" of the Dogs howling at moon.  What I thought was a stamp with 3 dogs ended up being a dog, a cat, a squirrel and a rabbit.  Still cute though.  Hope she still wants it LOL!
And Last but not least.........I was so excited when we returned home to find my 2 free tickets to the Scrapbook Expo in my mail box!  I've never been and the ladies have been trying to get me to go for the last 2 years.  Maybe this year will be the one.   Well I need to get cutting....(pun intended).  I need to come up with a card for Friday night with my ladies.  Hmmmm..........Everyday?  Christmas?   Fall?  Fathers Day?   Not sure.......so check back later.  Til then............................

HAPPY CARDING!!

No card just an update

Making this short and sweet..............................getting ready to go open up our summer home on the lake and I am so excited because my one and only stamp store has just opened her 3rd store!!!!  I can barley contain my self.  She actually had 2 stores in our little county and the one closest to me was actually 50% stamp stuff and 50% kiddie toys.  I'm in a huge tourist area know as the Cape Cod of the Mid-West.  Any way the Kids store went great for her for a couple of years and recently a front building became available for sale and she bought it and transferred her stamping stuff out of the kids store.  I can't wait to see what she has done with the new store.  I also can't wait to see the new stamps she has designed!!!   She also carries the entire line of Northwoods stamps so I want to check out the new summer line too!   It's going to be a great weekend!  I have no Internet up there so you'll have to wait til next week to see my treasures.   Till then..........................

HAPPY CARDING!!!
