Easter treat boxes for table scape

Is spring suppose to be here?  Is it suppose to be sunny and warm yet??  Does it seriously still snow in April??  YES!!  Sunday we got hit with a blizzard!  *" of the heavy, wet, white stuff fell all around us.  We had some white out conditions so there was no sense in leaving the house.  I decided it was a good day to make some pretty little decorations for my Easter Dinner table since I will be hosting the dinner for family.
This is a picture half way through the storm.  We went from daffodils starting to poke up to a ground full of 8" of snow in 9 hours.  And now today 2 days later we are at 72 degrees and very sunny and not a trace of snow remains.  Crazy but I love living here where the seasons are always surprising you.
OK so back to crafting.
Those little chick treat boxes were what came to mind to decorate all the plates on the table but I didn't want all chicks so I added some bunnies as well.  Then I decided to throw in a few decoupage eggs too.  Can't wait to scatter these all over the table Sunday.
I think I might make a few more eggs. I'm pretty sure I have some butterfly napkins I can use.   I mean really........you can never have too many eggs right?  lol  Did I tell you how easy peasy these are?  Napkins are 2 ply..remove the back solid piece, tear off pieces and use decoupage on craft eggs bought at Walmart.  After the egg is totally covered and dry add a ribbon and brush on some glitter Mod Podge.  Done and Oh so pretty.  Plus they don't break when little ones swipe them off the table!  lol

Simple Baby Card

Can you believe 3 posts in a row???  I cannot believe that I have actually had time to just sit and type.  Life has been so hectic, I am so glad it is slowing down if only for a moment or two.
So as I said before in my previous post my Niece has had her first baby.  An adorable little girl.  We are all so excited.  So today's card is a simple little Gate fold card welcoming her to the family.

This is a 5"x6" gate fold type card.  I added flaps to the right side of the gate that measure 2x5.  One on the top and one on the bottom.  Then on the left side of the gate I added a 2x5" flap to the middle section and removed the 2x2.5" pieces of the gate top and bottom.

That's all for now

Bouncing Baby Girl

IT'S A GIRL!!  I'm a great Aunt again.  This little one kept the new parents to be on their toes.  My niece did not have a very typical pregnancy.  We were all holding our breaths waiting for the words "A healthy baby girl" which we finally heard!  Yay!  So I started making a card to welcome her to the family and as usual I get carried away.  My card turned into a mini album and my mini album turned into a fancy fold wallet size mini album.  This mini album includes an accordion fancy fold.  Its so darn cute.  The entire album is only 5 3/4" x 2 3/4" and holds small wallet size photos.

So many cute papers make this a super cute album.  Bet this would look cute in Halloween papers too or Christmas.  Hmmmm I think I'll have to do a tutorial in the near future lol.

Pretty sure my niece is going to love this.  She absolutely loves homemade items and I love making them for people who appreciate the work that goes into them.

Cheep Cheep for Cheap Cheap

Can I squeeze in one more Easter post??  Sure why not.  These are adorable little treat holders that I plan to use as place setting at my Easter dinner.  I earlier made a real cute make and take at the grand opening of a new LSS a few towns away.  I absolutely loved it but it was made with a die that happened to have been a Stampin Up die that also happened to be discontinued.  And where can you find discontinued dies you ask???  EBay of course!  Unfortunately there were only 2 listed at the time one for $48.95 and the other $79.  OK I am CHEAP!  There is no way I would pay that much for any die.  So I searched around and found a cute little bunny that I decided to turn into a Chick.  Get it Cheep Cheep???  This little guy is little and only holds 1 Hersey Kiss or 3 M&M's. heeheehee
Aren't they adorable?  And Oh so easy.
Start with a 5"x 2.5" piece of yellow card stock.  Score in half.  Then on the short side make a little tick mark on both sides and score from the tick line to the centerfold line on both sides as shown below.

Fold on the score lines and bring the points together.  Use a hole punch to punch a hole through all 4 layers and tie a ribbon through the hole.  Cut a 2" circle in half and glue on to sides.  A small orange 3/4" square folded diagonally forms the beak.  A sharpie was used for the eyes.  Done!  You can get 6 of these gems from one 8.5" x 11" sheet of card stock.

Enjoy making these...they are addictive.

More Easter

Recently I was a a girls weekend adventure with 4 of my BFF's.  We try to do this twice a year and spend the entire weekend crafting and socializing. It is a totally awesome time.  This year we made alot of Easter related crafts.  We all definitely have decorated our houses for the holiday.  I just thought I'd share a few of the items we had made over the weekend.

Ok we did not make the branches..lol.  Those I already had on display.  But we did decorate the eggs using flower punches, butterfly punches, and glitter.  Guess I should have taken a better picture.  Hope you can zoom up on these as they are really cute.

We even got a couple cards in.  The little one is actually a mini album.  I'll be sharing those at a later date.  Super simple and super cute for any occasion.  The card to the right is just a 4.25 x 5.5 card and the bottom one is a flip card.  I definitely needed the Easter cards and in fact still need at least 2 more.  I better get carding Easter's almost here!

As you can see we girls were quite busy and we had a GREAT time.

Little Harry Potter note pad

Hello Potter friends!  Ok I confess I have never read nor have I seen 1 single thing about Harry Potter.  My daughter in law loved all the books and movies as did my sister and now my granddaughter.  With my granddaughters birthday quickly arriving I had decided to make her a special Harry Potter Mini Album which I will be sharing later.  I'm using the Wizard World paper pack from Color Play and have been making nearly all the embellishments to go inside the album.  One of the items is a little note book that she can jot little notations about the Potter series.
Most paper packs have a front sheet that shows what is included in the package and I have decided to take advantage of the part that shows all the different papers in the pack.  I'm using that as the cover for my little book.  First step is to make the main pages as below.
Next I made some writing sheets to go on top of each page.. These are not very big.  I cut 2 sheets of paper 2 x 7 inch's and folded them in half.  With a thin line of glue I glued them together.

The book jacket was then made by cutting that front sheet showing all the different papers in the pack into a piece 4.5 x 6.25 inch's and scored as shown to form the book cover.
The previously made pages were added with a piece of ribbon glued on the inside of the cover.  The writing sheets were then added to each page.
Finally close it up and tie it shut.  This little book will fit into one of the pockets in the album.
This Harry Potter thing has been a big challenge for me since I have no idea of what it is all about except it involves wizardry.  Can't wait to share the completed book with you.

Til then

Unicorn Card for a Special Girl

Well yesterday my daughter in law asked if I could make a birthday card for her niece who lives in Florida.  She turns 11 and loves Unicorns so what better than a unicorn card?
I love doing fancy fold but sometimes when you do those and have to mail it the receiver does not know how the fancy fold works.  Especially if they are not card makers themselves.  I have done a number of these cute little explosion cards.  You just open the card.  No fiddling and oh so cute.  I also LOVE the color combo.

This one is a 4.5" x 4.5" card when finished. As soon as I made it..it had to be mailed so I do not have instructions for this beauty.  But I will send you over to Michele Boyer's site for her wonderful tutorial.  Right HERE You'll find this super easy to follow.
Did anyone notice my Boo boo?  For sure a little girl won't notice but I am such a perfectionist it's driving me crazy.  Ok I'll fess up.  The floral paper is upside down.  Yes it is......look at the tiny hearts scattered around.  They are upside down.  Grrrrrr......lol

Well till next time
